Furthur Labelz is a team, a friendship, a collaboration, a movement, a revolution, a dream realized now – while honoring past inspirations and moving into the future…

Furthur Labelz refers to the ever movement of our minds and souls and expresses the wish never to stop, never to freeze out of fear for one’s light, one’s possibilities, one’s potential and to never feel trapped by the gaze of the world.

Furthur is not a careless spelling error but, of course, a tribute to the Prankster bus in the late sixties; a revolutionary idea in a revolutionary time and a group of Merry Pranksters always moving forward. They were lead by the writer, artist and non-leader Ken Kesey, who would always push ‘furthur’ into the future, into the possibilities of the mind and group dynamics. The pranksters pushed themselves in all directions possible; over the face of the continental USA, through their minds with the experimentation of hallucinogenic drugs and different spiritualities. They explored their creativity through the use and counter use of new technology and collaborating with artists across mediums. Simultaneously they explored their psyches through living in communal situations, never holding back, living intuitively thus creating a form of constant grouptherapy.

We do not want to relive these times; we recognize them, honor them and now we want to go further! And the question is once again: are you on or off the bus! Labelz refers to this world constituted in language and to how we are accustomed to ‘tag’ things. Furthur Labelz doesn’t like the labels this world has to offer any more, or at least not the constraints they put on us when we allow names, titles, and language to take control.

We want to wear a different label every minute if we feel like it and believe anybody should be able to do so, because we are so many things, people, faces, and dreams at once. We are all dancers, singers, writers, artists, students, travelers, ramblers, lovers, parents and children. We argue, we laugh, we rhyme, we hold our breaths in silence, we sleep, we dream, we walk, we eat, we fly, we get lost, we have the answers, we pose the questions and above everything we wonder about so many things every day. Thus Labelz is a non-word: it is outside language and yet it is legible. It is recognizable both as the word Labels and also as Label-less.

Furthur Labelz started as a playful dream of two young people, but it is open to anyone who wants to move further, who is inspired or wishes to be so. Furthur Labelz wishes to be an artistic platform, a collaboration, something dynamic in that vein but never to be pinpointed exactly, always wearing a different label with every new project. It is open to everyone who seeks to learn from this world; both within and outside the institutions that offer ‘knowledge’.

Furthur Labelz welcomes everyone who is as grateful as we are to be here, who wants to make the most of it, leave something behind and create something on the way. We would like to share our ideas outside the boundaries of our restricted spaces, minds, times and possibilities. We want to investigate how far we can go before we hit a wall. And when – or if – we hit that wall we want to climb it to see what lies beyond.
